Initial D Discussion Thread

How I see CH719 ending with Keiichi Tsuchiya showing up at Project D's barbecue in his hachiroku with Bunta to drive Takumi home.

Mean while Itsuki begs boss Yuichi to let him and Iketani leave work to rescue Takumi's Hachiroku to restore on their time off. Yuichi contemplates on the request, but tells them to hurry, before it is too late.

Shinji arrives at the barbecue and he talks with Takumi about their battle. Bunta notices Shinji's potential and asks to drive shinji's notchback hachiroku. Curious of the request, Shinji agrees as long as he is in the passenger seat. After enduring Bunta's downhill run Shinji is left it awe once they return to the barbecue. Bunta comments on tuning and offers Shinji, Takumi's morning tofu delivery job. Delighted Shinji agrees.

Finally Itsuki and Iketani arrive at the scrap yard with a flatbed tow truck as Kenji finalizes the purchase of the Fujiwara Tofu Shop Hachiroku. With cries of joy the trio secure the legendary vehicle minus a 4A-GEU under the hood.

Just for starters!

I wish you were right, but there's no way we'll get that much characterization in one chapter. For the past couple years Shigeno has really been reluctant to write a story, instead focusing on churning races out. With Shinji he really had a chance to make Initial D more interesting than it's been since first stage, but he squandered every chance he had. That's not to say the races aren't fun to watch and exciting, but the story surrounding the events has been pathetically weak since the race with God Hand and God Foot.

I think the final chapter will go in a more standard direction, without cameos from Keiichi or some final race with bunta or anything. Ryosuke quits racing and makes it rich being a doctor having fulfilled his racing dream. Keisuke goes on to become a professional racer. Takumi either quits racing or goes on to become a professional.The 86 is scrapped and lives on in everyone's hearts. The end.

Last chapter will be Takumi making a delivery in the Impreza. When he gets home, he sees the dead 86 outside. He reflects on how his entire life changed because of it. He then says Thank You and Goodbye, symbolizing the end of his journey with the 86 and the start of his new bright future in the world.

You heard it here first.

@kraze - that actually sounds like a positive theory of what could happen but i doubt it tho, its been two weeks since the race with shinji right?? (Not sure on that either) but it would be a nice way to end it, gently laying the 86 to rest

+1 from someone who has no idea wtf is going on with the manga. This just seems too likely to not happen.

Although, when you say "bright new future" I take it to mean that he's going to end up as a generic suit n tie guy whose only real claim to fame is the fact that he was Project D's downhill ace. Nothing more.

Am I the only person glad that initial d is finally over with?

It's not that we don't want Initial D to end, we just don't want it to end in a horrible way like this.

Sounds misleading, "covering the manga's final battles" is what Fifth Stage did.

Thats true thats why it confused me a little but either way a new anime movie is comming out to finish it off im happy

BREAKING NEWS!!! avex just announced minutes ago that a new theatrical version of Initial D will be released in the summer of 2014 AND the production of a new anime series "Final Stage" has also been decided. More details will be released in the ヤングマガジン大アート原画展2013 "Young Magazine Original Art Exhibition 2013" that's being held in 渋谷ヒカリエ9階 (9th Floor Shibuya Hikarie) from July 26 to July 29.

YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy bout really seeing the final battle(s?) animated. SO happy that it actually brought some tears of joy to my eyes  

This is getting very confusing. Apparently there's a new mini-anime series called "Final Stage" and a movie called "New Initial D: The Movie" coming out next year. The first trailer will be out this Friday along with the last chapter of the manga, Chapter 719: DREAM

Well actually if anybody remembers watching the intro from first stage released by tokyopop (yes that cheesey rap intro) it actually says 2 different meanings for "D" "Initial Drift" ( im sure most of us thought thats what D stood for in the beginning) "Initial Dream" didnt think about it much then but now it makes since. And for a while watching the fourth stage before fifth stage was announced, i thought the "D" in "Project D" could of stand for "Project Domination" that was just my opinion but apperently its not lol
