| I honestly get the feeling that Takumi will lose, only because his opponent is basically the same as him, but when he was in his early stages. I just think that It'll be like how Takumi could never lose on Akina (except to Bunta), I get the feeling that the kid in the Trueno Coupe will have the exact same style as the early Takumi, and will never lose on his own home course. I'll be sad if he loses, but it's kind of expected. | |

| Best ending to an anime season I've ever seen in my life... So what now? OVA? Battle Stage 3? He aint got much racing experience but shin gets faster when he gets overtaken and he manages his tyres better than tak so right now tak is struggling with understeer and shin aint. Shinji is tapping taks bumper telling him that he is going too slow and soon shin will pass

It was mentioned that Shinji was the fastest downhiller on Sidewinder by far (so we know for sure he's faster than Go on the downhill). The locals recognize his AE86 coupe the same way Gunma recognizes the "Akina 86" so we know he's pretty famous. Apart from that we do not know how much actual experience he has but we can infer that he has at least beaten the top drivers of the area at one point... Also I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Ikeda had lost to Shinji before but I really don't remember my source.

| Takumi was never too insecure only when people started saying he had no chance did he let it get to his head sometimes but most of the time he thought he was invincible ("I'll race that guy I don't care what he's driving I can't lose if I give it my best I'm going to beat him for sure"). Although he did have a IDGAF if I lose personality at first too.
But yeah Shinji started as overconfident, then became scared, and now is becoming desperate. | |

Also I think shinji needs a loss, he is overcofindent because no one has really challenged him, look at how much takumi improved after the Evo 3 where he blew his engine, even though they didn't consider it a race, takumi still said he felt like he lost
