Hey that's better than I was, I first watched it when I was 15. I could really empathize with Takumi being completely ignorant to cars in general.

I haven't watched Initial D for years - last translated episode that was out when I was watching was...hell, I don't even know. It was the "Oh mer gerd Subaru STi" part of the series though. Dunno how far it's progressed since. Still though, isn't Shinji the greasy kid with the Red EG? Not only is the driver sub par, but the car is as well - in the 86's newest form, no amount of gum tape would help him.
