| But after a 6 year hiatus, the fan-base definitely dwindled down a bit. It was believed for a long time that there wouldn't even be Fifth Stage considering how long it took Shigeno to write it. | |

| I was so sad when I finished the fourth stage, but then when I heard there was a fifth coming i was sooo happy! I bet a lot of the fans of the OG initial D just dont even realize that the new stage is even out. | |

| No dude, the very day that Fifth Stage was merely implied, not even officially announced yet, the ID World forums blew up lol. I finished watching Fourth Stage back in 2009 and after 2 years of manga I didn't think they would make a Fifth Stage either.  | |

Shinji's coupe makes an appearance and we get to see the conclusion of the GTR vs FC death race. I don't read the manga but I pretty much thought something like that was going to happen.
