Its more advanced than that, what you're talking about is just a the basic strut and spring design that you see on everyday cars.
A typical coilover is a strut valved to withstand a higher spring rate with threading on the outside that allows you to adjust the ride height, while the higher end ones also allow you to adjust camber, caster, and bump/rebound dampening.

Is that the type of suspension that is depicted as a racing suspension in Forza and GT, or are those a different type?

To be honest I would agree that on Forza the race suspension is equivalent to advanced coilovers while street and sport suspensions are just stiffer shocks and springs. Applies to GT as well I guess but the sport option there has adjustable shocks.

Don't get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with the OEM strut designs on cars except for shitty cars themselves lol but there are plenty of aftermarket struts and some that allow you to adjust dampening, Koni Yellow, KYB AGX etc.
Coilovers just give you more fine tuning.
There are also coilover sleeves that slide on to the original struts that allow you to adjust ride height, granted you can do this to a stock oem strut but it will eventually blow out since they can't handle the spring rates.

Street and Sport = Upgraded struts w/ stiffer springs and entry level coilover.
Race = Fully adjustable Coilover

I have KYB AGX shocks on my Z32 but they're very old something like 8 years now so there not quite as good anymore.

My Saab comes stock with fully adjustable coilovers, LOL WUT #FUCKTHEHATERS

God I really LOVE the new artstyle it looks so modern. I still fear that there might not be any Eurobeat, which is ok I guess? because this looks like a much more serious approach to the story with zero humor probably and 80s Italo-Disco music would throw that off.

I didn't know they were going to change up the seiyuu's, none the less the new cast works well with the characters.
Tho its just a promo, I love how similar the racing scenes/shots can relate to the artwork of from the manga.
Im a fan of how they made the cars look less CG, it flows so much better with the character designs.
Seriously tho, if theres no eurobeat i might have to make a couple edits LOL

ALSO, for those who have actually read the manga from the beginning and read the pages giving short descriptions of the characters , there is a clip with Ryosuke and a younger girl that may very well be his younger cousin that he's intimate with LOL.
btw, marrying your cousin in japan is not looked down upon and is completely legal.
