Just a quick race I did in FM5's single player mode. Sorry its only in 720p, only own a hd ready tv; so the X1 is only outputting to 720p at the moment. Will be getting a new full HD tv after christmas in the January sales though.

I'm pretty upset with the replay mode... There are no time markers, no telemetry, only like 4 view categories which have about 5 different perspectives each which is especially bad for people who make videos. You'll be pretty much seeing the same angle over and over again for each track -____-

That might be tricky, as I have heard there is no replay save feature for online lobbies.

I know right, would be a case of a camera car from someone who has a capture device for tandem footage if it's true. A bit daft in all honesty.

So the FD gets an Initial D shoutout while the 86 mentions how the corolla and camry are good econoboxes... Well that sucks.

Sadly. No more turbo glitch as well, youre not able to sell parts anymore. Probably because the parts are already cheap. After looking at the tire size available for different cars i can see why they added 255's to the 86. They probably did it to make up for the abnormal swaps you can do. 2JZ in the 86 needs wider tires for sure. The FD is odd, stock width is 225s for the rears then jumps to 255 then 275 to 305.
The individual vibrations in the triggers weirds me out sometimes. Right trigger vibrates from tire traction and the left front the brake pads to the rotors. You'll also have to adjust yourselves to the brake control, the vibrations throw you off a bit and you'll end up just locking them up.

What tha fuck t10 no online replays and the smoke STILL looks that poor on next gen? Werent these fools talking bout quality over quantity? They cut over 50% out from forza 5 have a high end system theyre running it on and still have fm3 like tire smoke?

Understandable really, they use particle effects for smoke and dust; which is a major resource hog. It causes dips in frame rates, which is something T10 don't want to do. As far as they are concerned, the game has to run at 60fps all the time. This is probably why they wont add weather effects to the game just yet also, because the rain would also be running on a particle effects system; which again would cause lag during game play. Plus they would have to use the HDR reflection system they have in place on the track, and reflections are also a resource hog. I think T10 need to optimize the game engine more on the X1 first for the latter aspect to be added, which will take them some time. I know there are other games out there (going back over a decade here) that have weather effects, and have better smoke/dust, but T10 just want to do it in a way that wont effect the end users experience.
With regards to the car list being cut, I also find that understandable. Apart from the most recent and highly modeled cars (which is mostly the auto vista cars from FM4), the rest have essentially being rebuilt from the ground up. With most cars that where in FM4, just tweaking the mesh to fit on the new system (and forza vista) really wouldn't work. Most of the cars would have being almost one solid object (for the car body that is), baring the front/rear bumpers and bonnet; which as we know where popular parts for modders to remove. This means that the door seams where most likely painted on via textures and bump mapping. cant be 100% sure on that though, as I don't have access to the mesh's to look at.
The only thing that irks me about FM5 is the track list being cut back so much, there is absolutely no reason why Forza's long list of fantasy tracks couldn't have had the mesh's and textures upscaled and put back in, which is all they did with the Alps. There is no point in laser scanning real world aspects for those tracks in my opinion, and I am sure it would be in theirs too; its just been used as a crutch to explain why the fantasy tracks are gone for now. In actuality, it all boils down to the game being a next gen release title.
With regards to the game play though, it is still the same old forza we all know and love. The handling physics are vastly improved over FM4's offering, and so are the sounds. The tire squeal actually sounds like tire squeal now, which is just awesome to hear while drifting. The lack of storefront and auction house is also good in my book (along with car clubs/gifting), because in FM4 they all became a bit of a frustration. I havnt used any in FM4 for a good while now, as you could buy hacked tunes from the storefront, hacked cars from the auction house (if its just the wheels hacked, they are very hard to notice), could be gifted said cars, or access them in a club garage. All of which would get you banned from FM4's online features, so I have actively avoided using them.
With regards to the online replay save function, I have yet to look at a multiplayer, so I have no idea if its there or not. I am just going by what I heard on the Forza Forums. Its not the end of the world though if it isnt, it just makes the job of video editors harder. They would have to be a camera car in muliplayer, which will also mean all the "HUD" items would have to be turned off. It would put an end to those spontaneous awesome moments that can happen though, which is the worst part on that aspect. The most annoying thing however, is that you would not longer be able to take awesome multiplayer tandem pictures, or even a shot of an awesome overtake in an MP race. I do know they can add that functionality with an update if they really want to though, we all just have to look at GT5 to know the whole game can be changed via big enough updates. Hell the day one patch was 6gb's for FM5 as it was.
Anyway I have to get ready to go out for a meal, so I will catch you all later. Koolade, send me an FR and I will accept when I get back home, then we can hook up on FM5 at some point. I also got cod Ghosts, well its the game my bf wanted, but meh I will still play it on occasion lol.

yeah all this idiotic scheduling for releasing a game really can harm the quality tho. i will not judge any aspects of physique gameplay or whatevs since i didnt play the game but come on even the ps3 can throw out great smoke effects (talkin gt5 here). and that was last gen and YEARS ago i dont even give too much bout there not being weather but if they cant even add nighttime, which looked great in horizon already, then there should be at least a decent smokescreen when tearing up tires going sideways. im pretty positive that the X1 would be capable of all that without harming the players experience.
