Friend of mine used to have one of those. That car spent more time at the shop being fixed than on the road

Only had two faults with mine, the EGR valve had to be replaced as it started sticking. And for what ever reason, the oil cooler had tiny holes in it and had to be replaced. Besides those 2 issues, I never had anything else go wrong with the car. It was actually fairly solid, so guess I lucked out in that regard. Neither of those things cost me any money, as they was covered by the warranty. What killed my car, was the asshole who came out of a blind corner on a 60MPH road, and was on my side. I swerved to avoid his dumb ass, and my car got to mate with a tree at 60 miles per hour. I will say one thing, that car was built to take an impact. I walked away without a single scratch, even though I still got a free trip to the hospital on a backboard with a neck brace on. A precautionary measure by the emergency services because of the seriousness of the impact. The knobjock that ran me off the road though, he just fucked off before the police showed up. Even though I gave the police the guys license plate number, he was never prosecuted for causing the accident. He denied being there at the time of the accident, and there was no witnesses as it was 3am on a deserted country road.

^Assholes, even in the UK.
My commute to college and back is loaded with asshole drivers. People shoot out if they have even a tiny opening. Hell, some guy ran in front of my car to cross the street even after seeing me right behind some other car in front. (I don't mean tailgating the car in front, I mean about 2-3 seconds behind him on a 45 MPH road)

Aren't those easy to steal, though?
Somewhat, but the reason that they tend to appear as "more stolen" is simply because of the sheer amount of Civics/Accords/Honda-Acura models produced and sold here. My Integra has been outside since I bought it in July and no one has given it a second glance. Funny, since my Integra is a Milano red fading to pink.

Is it bad that I would rather drive my 240sx than my SRT-4?

Absolutely not. Srt4 are boring cars in my eyes so id prefer a s13 over that every day of the year

Yeah I'm probably going to be selling it soon and build the 240. A lot of power to the front wheels is no fun. I only liked it because it is rust free and all original (keep in mind I live in Chicago) but now that I bought a rust free all original 240sx, it's time to change routes.

You seem to be suffering from the "240 Effect" when any other car you own does not seem as exciting anymore. I am so sorry...

Would anyone object to a C3 Vette shell built up to racing spec with a rotary? (I want to buy an empty C3 shell, there's one right down the road. I wanna put a 4 rotor in it because why have vroom vroom or braap braap when you can have BWAAAH?)

A 4Rotor, just the motor alone, will run you 25k Rotary shops are a dime a dozen compared to any other shop. Having a custom motor mounts and drive train to fit will be another 5 to 10k. I wouldn't attempt to do any kind of crazy swap that hasn't been done without having extensive knowledge of fabrication and I would hate to see anything less than a v8 in any corvette. And paying someone else to do it? You don't even want to know how much they'll charge you. This would only happen if i won the lotto and wanted to waste money trolling the corvette fan base.

What would be cheaper-Restoring the Vette and then building, or just using the shell to turn it into a racer?

Shelling it and then racecar is probably 8x cheaper than restoring it.

Restoring classic cars isn't easy, not one bit. Depending on how bad it is, i'll say upwards of 5-10k for a quality job just to remove rust and have the car painted. I'm not too sure about the c3 corvettes, but any c4 or newer tend to be totalled with any major damage to the body since its all fiberglass.
Turning it in to a race car? that really depends on what your doing with it. If the car is running, good, go buy some sticky tires and take it to the track, $1000 but expect to spend more for other things that require regulations such as seat belts, legal roll cages, etc.

It's nothing but the body and chassis I think. The exposed metal looks rusted but it's painted brown.
