PostSubject: need to get fast in my 86!   need to get fast in my 86! Icon_minitimeTue Feb 05, 2013 12:37 pm

I am trying to find the right kinda setup for my 86 but no luck. Seeing people get better than me in such shorter time than me puts me on such a downer Sad can anyone help with some suggestions on what kinda setup I should be using on my 86?

I've found Sport suspension to work great on the 86. As for gearing, brakes, roll bars, diff, and tire pressure, it depends on your driving style Neutral If you'd like a specific tune I could tell you mine but I haven't done any faster than a high 4:38 in it though...

If you don't mind me suggesting, i've noticed you driving the MR-S quite a bit recently. The MR-S is a mid engine car, and a fast one at that. It's handling characteristics are very different from an 86, and you might have got used to it rather than the feel of an FR. It's a possibility...I know i'm not a very "versatile" driver, you might be the same.

I've already talked about 86 setups before, so I won't repeat myself. You've reached a level higher than a lot of people in the 86, it's up to you to push it past this point.

^Yeah I don't mind since it's not a perfect tune to be honest. My average in it is a 4:40 but even tuned the 86 is a handful to drive even for me. I can send it to you later today when I'm done with homework Wink

yeah I have been driving the mr-s a fair bit and im pretty fast in it but i dont wanna have to rely on that car because its quiet easy to drive fast in it and it out handles other cars easy and I dont like that because its not a challenge and wont get much respect for using that car if you know what I mean

^I know that feeling. Soon people will call Miatas cheap cars like they did with the MR-S and then I'd have to switch cars again Rolling Eyes

hey man yeah ibknow there is no shame in using someone elses tune but just wanted a really good tune to call my own. My c class 86 tune has been very successful and is very fast and manageable on the downhill and it got me 60th spot on the new downhill Smile but with the b class it feels like there is something im missing and dont know what it is and is really bugging me.

GEARING (all cars may vary)
Final Drive of 4.70 usually does the trick

Toe + 0.2 front, - 0.4 rear
Caster 2.0
ANTI-ROLL BARS
14.0 front, 10.5 rear
SPRINGS
410, 370
Ride height 5.7, 5.7
DAMPING
9.0, 8.0
4.0, 3.5
BRAKING (depends on the driver) i usually use
45%, 110%
DIFFERENTIAL (depends on power of the car)
31%, 20%

sport springs arnt bad in a 86. however properly tuned race suspension is quite a bit better. you should also have a race transmition and race roll cage. HP between 164-168 and should weigh about 1,818lbs. if your rear is still 2 loose for you, try not upgrading the exhaust. the race exhaust makes the rear end quite a bit lighter. without race exhaust your car should weigh 1,840ish i believe. Thanks for the advice man I use sports springs, race roll cage, race camshaft and street exhaust and race transmission, driveshaft, and diff. And race tires with max width on both front and rear Smile

Feel free to alter things like the brakes. I use 200% brake pressure because I HAVE to (damn brake pedal is stiff as hell lol). The gear ratio is a signature on all my cars so if you prefer longer gears go ahead Smile

No problem but I need to remove the paint on it first. I'll post it later today Wink
In fact, if more people are curious about it I can post it in the Touge Tune Database Smile
