| If a Touge Union-wide tournament/championship would be too hard to organise, surely just doing as Beta did and going through the leaderboards finding each member and listing them as they appear from top to bottom would work?
Granted, it doesn't take into account dirty runs or battle skills, but it seems like a very simple way to go about it. No?

Hot lapping and battling are two different things, plus this way is a lot funner It would be like looking at the drift points leaderboard and saying those people would be the best at battling in that order.

| Very true. But it could be a start.
Maybe use everyone's current LB time to sort out the seedings, then to move up you have to battle the person above you. It's just a thought, but it would take out a great deal of hassle and organisation.
Plus, with your drifting analogy: aren't most of the battle/tandem drifters completely against points as it's not "real drifting"? None of us here are against hotlapping as a show of skill. There is more respect to be earned by battling, yes, but this would get the battling underway sooner than if some unlucky few had to sort brackets for all of us.

| Yeah, I understood what you meant Smooth. Anyway, just adding my 2 cents.
I'm all for a huge tournament, it's just thinking about all the work that would be involved is mind boggling. Not to mention the time zone differences, etc. But that's workable. If this goes down and help is needed, most of us would be willing to lend a hand, no doubt.

| ^ I would give a helping hand too, I think the time zone difference would be the biggest hurdle in the whole thing | |

Not really, no. I agree with BerryStraw Like I said before, If hot lap times are about 1-2 seconds off, it may be a close battle, it may not, any more of a gap than that would have the results you would expect. There IS alot of differences, BUT skill isn't one of the differences. Strategy only comes into play when your close, if your 8 seconds slower, no kind of strategy will help you lol

| The way I see it strategy is mostly applied by putting your opponent into tough situations like bumping them coming into a corner or going side by side to make them back down. There's some strategy involved in a one on one, but i'd say it's 90% the same as hotlapping so long as you don't wreck your opponent or glue your eyes to your rearview mirror.
As for the thread topic, I just don't like the idea of resetting everyone's leaderboard progress in favor of a convoluted system like this. There's too much that can go wrong and too much that hasn't been planned.
Who starts in the top ten when the list first goes up? The people that are top ten on the leaderboard? But wasn't that what we were trying to do away with in the first place? Does it just start blank? If so who get's put up on board first?
How many times can you challenge someone in succession? Is there a limit to the number of times you can challenge? Do you have to challenge number 10 to become rank 10, then move up to 9, then 8, etc. or can you just challenge number 1 right of the bat?
What if two people can't decide on rules? Does the race get cancelled? If so, then how can someone ever move up in rank if they can't agree on rules? Is the ranked driver obligated to accept every challenge or can he just retain his rank and never let anyone take it?
What if someone goes inactive and we don't hear from them, but someone wants to take their spot? Do we remove people from the list that haven't been active for a month or so? What if they return, do they get their spot back? Who takes the empty spot if he's removed?
Will there be judges? If so who gets the right to judge?
These are all problems that need to be addressed before you start handing out official ranks. It's a fun idea, but without it being as clear as possible I don't think it's fair to judge people based on this system yet.

| You don t have to beat a #20 to be #20. I seen a team that was rank 7 beat a rank 4 team and they became rank 5. the other guy fell to like 10.A wins houldnt ONLY change the winner and loses spot. does anyone besides me watch ranked sports and see how they get moved and shuffled? I could be rank 20 one day and not play a game an then my team is rank 17 because guys ahead of me got blown out of the water in upsets. | |

| See, my point exactly, you already have an idea of how you want the ranks to be handled, and other people have different ideas. | |

Exactly, There are just so many things that we would need to figure out and more than likely it will cause issues. What we have is good now. We don't have ranks and people posting showing off their placement, Its the ones who know the community, know where each other are at. Its not about the number, its about the respect. Take a look back at Top Gears Senna Tribute, Senna doesn't have the most wins, the fastest lap times (anymore), He had alot of great lap records and pole positions, but he was beaten after he had passed. But if you asked any of the legendary guys racing with him, They could all tell you he was #1.

| There's also a more basic flaw with a system like this. EVERYONE would be ranked off their performance in a B class car on the New Downhill (I assume) so Old Downhill and A class uphills would be out of the question apparently. | |
