Hey everyone! So, I had an idea in mind and it's time to set sail.

Touge tips & tuning, here you can ask questions, read up & look into how to run the touge and how to tune & prep for the dangerous hills off the touge.

Touge tips;

Its not all about being the fastest instantly, you want to spend a good enough time learning the corners, the straights and where to power on and off. You will spend a lot off time making mistakes if you just want to jump in the deep end and by doing that, I don't think you will spend any time improving, nor will you learn how to control your car properly for battle.

Pick a car that you enjoy to drive already on Forza, something that has always worked for you either for drifting or time attack, go buy another and just test drive it stock and slowly perform upgrades but don't instantly decided it must be tuned.

Find a partner to run with, they don't have to be good nor bad, someone you can have a general chat with along with all the other touge members into getting a good built car and learning. Although, yes, it is very competitive, please keep in mind it's only a game.

Enjoy you're time here, have simple respect for others and don't be afraid to step up to the line, exceed your limits, by doing it with a team you will see what you need to do to improve but honestly, prepare to loose many times, prepare to realize the differences between all the other tracks to the touge.

To see how to run the touge down hill, check out KraZe's guideline post, although we all have our own techniques into driving and out own racing line, stepping back for 5 minutes to relax and to see where you could possibly improve;
KraZe's Guideline for NDH

Tuning tips;

Once again, we all have our own techniques, I am still in the middle off learning what does what and how to improve, when I first layed my my tires on the touge, I instantly thought it was all about the tuning, its not, its also very much down to the driver.

Upgrading;

You really should not worry about power, all B class cars have the power, it just needs the handling worked on. After general chat's and FAQ's, I found out that;

Don't touch the engine, at all!

What you should upgrade to is pref B500 or as close as possible, I would recommend;

Sport coilovers.
Race ARB's
Race roll cage ( keeps the body nice and stiff )
Race weight reduction
Race brakes ( Well duhh, you want to stop, right )

Race clutch ( Optinal )
Race trans
Race driveline
Race diff

You are also going to want to upgrade your tires to race, and I'd also recommend to go as wide as possible front & rear to keep the grip down on the road, although it dramatically changes your PI, you need a lot off grip! If you still see that you could do with some more upgrading, find some wheels, don't upgrade the sizes as they add more weight to the car, also, you don't need a body kit or any external upgrades as it adds weight ( Unless its a bonnet saving you a small amount etc )

A base tune for all RWD cars by KraZe;
Spoiler:

Also, if you search the forum a lot, you'd see there is a page dedicated to touge tunes, I recommend checking and testing them, however, everyone tunes their own way & everyone has their own skill. the tunes may not work for you, but could also work so well that you decided to stick to it, but, if it don't work there is a Tuning guide also on here that tells you what to adjust to improve, or, simply check out Kraze's spoiler above to decrease over/under steer.

* Other parts to tuning *

PSI - I believe you best overall grip is around 31/33 PSI, however, you will want to set your PSI a bit lower as the tires will take time to warm up, you should test drive the car for a few laps with telemetry up to see where the peak performance off grip stands and how long it takes to reach the 31/33 PSI.

FAQ;

Q: Downhill; What aspirations is best?
A: You will be better off either running N/A or S/C.

*Will update as questions come in, this will be edited frequently and I really hope it helps others out*

The problem with this.is everyone.has their own styles and cars - my FWD absolute grip style won't help you get down the hill in an S14, and even amongst FWDs, King seems to use both his e-brake and a killer rear bar (to dramatic effect, mind you. Much faster than me...) That I can hardly get aroind a corner with.

I think he means tips like *not setting tire pressure more then 2 psi a part bc it will make your car oversteer or larger car should be tuned to oversteer a lot to help the under steer!*

Well, keep your race temps under ~210°, keep your pressure under 34 psi.when hot, and always wear a condom.

Are you sure its because off tire pressure and not your full tune? When building my EK9 I had a few issues with it cornering, it could always be down to the diff / arb settings, If need be I can post my tune here for you to work on.

Also, I have updated OP. If anyone has any questions / answers please post away Smile

I always say it's best to AVOID race clutches and flywheel. Hell, I would recommend leaving them stock. Trust me, the advantages ain't worth the PI you waste.

^Sport suspension really does work as well or nearly as well as fully tuned race suspensions for 95% of cars. Only exceptions that I've noticed to this, where a stock suspension works best (at least for me), are:
240SX
NSX
FD
FR-S
Supra

I'll try some of these - certainly a stock / sport suspension would be soft enough for my needs, and a race rear bar would let me stiffen what needs stiffening.

Ive noticed that when ur coming into the hairpins if u drop from 2nd to 1st gear at the start of the turn it makes u car slide just enuf to help u around the corner and line u up for the staight. I never use the e brake just drop gears at the right time to slide. But only a littleslide then recover and jam it.

Well, when I first arrived here I thought it was all about the race parts, although it is, you spend so much time trying to set up the springs a 9/10 times, you get it wrong, its all trial and error but eventually you notice the dramatic difference.

Duck, I know exactly what you mean, but also, loosing the rear end for a split second gives your opponent time to catch up, I personally stay in 2nd as much as I can unless I can really feel the engine dropping, once again and as I cant stress any more, we all have our own driving techniques, its don't help I have ALWAYS been a drifter so trying not to drift is rather bloooddeeehh' annoying!

My first FAQ to post providing there is back up.

When running down hill, NA engines are best.

Uphill cars if applicable should run boost?

Yay or nay?

Well a turbo glitched fc does slightly worse than a normal FC. And an NSX is fine without a turbo. There are probably more examples than this but the point is that this advice is not always 100% true. Although for the most part it usually is right.

Hmmmm, I think it needs more of a back up to give it a 100% all clear, so far IMO its whats a prefer but I don't want to post something that isnt 100% correct! Smile

Turbo cars usually do better imo cause of the high torque which your average n/a jdm doesnt have except rwd hondas like the nsx or the s2k thats what ive noticed. Its allabout torque there so unless you have monstrous displacement (meaning a muscle car) you need at least a supercharger if possible

My car has more ft lbs than hp.

I also just noticed, this morning, how sensitive the lines on a good run really are on the touge. I was killing my ghost, which was a mediocre run to begin with, probably a run that'd have killed my previous ON. I messed up the entrance to the first hairpin because I had been carrying more speed than , and by the exit of the final hairpin, the 3 second lead had evaporated. This may play more into the fact that my tune relies on my grip not giving out, which should be much easier to cope with on a rwd.

Is this for down hill or up hill Black knight?

Moth, it's all trial and error, and learning from it, I just need to stick to one racing line that's 100% efficient, just when battling I forget it and tend to follow the lead car as much as possible.
I tend to run my EK9 or CRX DH and it's set up perfect, the only things I have to deal with and learn is throttle control as when pulling out from a hairpin, funny things can happen!

On a RWD based car, grip is the almighty god however, no matter how much grip you have the rear may still come loose without gainging full controll over the throttle & breaking Smile

Are you in my FL? We should play some time!

I am. My car's not ready yet, though. I played against Kraze the once last night - even won the race, thanks to two a-class awd drift turds that held him and someone else up.

Aha no worries, I don't really run uphill that much, but I am pretty sure for DH you are going to want N/A engine if possible... Yay or nay? Then I can post a new question Very Happy hahaa!
