| So, my Impala is starting to show some.issues typical for that particular model at 140k miles: Transmission is acting up (hard shifts, slow.shifts, unusually harsh kickdown to 1st gear on hills and fast-shifting to the point of poor response) The suspension has started squeaking, weirdly enough. Headlight not giving enough light anymore.
So yeah, may be carless for a while.

| Well, I wanted a project car but circumstances provided me to buy a new car. I just got, on the 22nd, a brand new 2015 Kia Forte5 SX, this hatch is awesome, not too fast, but with a turbo gas direct injected 1.6l 4 cylinder, this thing pumps out 201 bhp, 0-60 in just 6.7 seconds, and a 1/4 mile time of 14.9 seconds. Sadly, the manual was hard to find, but my 6 speed automatic has paddle shifters! here is the photo, it is a little girly with the flower wheels but I want to change those out, the black looks good though but I never have had a black car and the maintenence I have already noticed to be insane! | |

| So I just heard from my insurance agent that I can put up to $1,000 in aftermarket parts into my Impala without any penalty or consequence.
That said, I've decided to just see if I can up the engine from its current ~150/170 HP to about 240.

With $1000? I don't think that's really plausible unless you can find a cheap DIY way of slapping on the biggest turbo you can afford while making sure the engine won't detonate.

I have no idea what I said before. Right now, trying to find out what the hell my powertrain tolerances are before I do anything. Nobody at the Impala forums offered any help.

I found a $730 programmer that claims an improvement of 154 HP and 313 ft-lbs of torque for a 3.4L Impala. It basically claimed it can retune the Impala to put out 334 HP and 518 ft-lbs of torque. Kinda suspicious.

I was thinking up a list a while ago: K&N air filter and exhaust New brakes Michelin Primacy tires Possibly some small cosmetic stuff-I'd like alloy wheels and a sport wing.

Nothing extreme. Â Just like a manufacturer wing. Â I'm hoping to make it look like the LS or SS. Edit: Like this.

| I'm not planning on making the car look stupid or sporty, just want to improve the aesthetic and the performance.
When I pay it off, the next car I get my hands on is going to be something more fun...I was thinking a Baja, BRAT or maybe an old Corvette.

| So I put together a list of the components I'd need.
Can someone tell me if rotors and brake pads come in packs of 2 or if I have to buy each one separately?
Parts: K&N Air Filter Michelin Primacy tires Centric Alloy brake rotors Centric C-Tek ceramic brake pads JKS Flush Mount Sport Wing.
Not counting the tires, the parts add up to about ~$170. With the tires, it's ~$890
