At the moment I think shinji is awesome hence why I have the 86 coupe paintjob on forza lol but I haven't seen what his true personality is like yet

Lol, i told everyone before the episode was even released that the new kid is exactly the same as Takumi before his battle with Keisuke. The timidness and unwillingness to race gave it away to me. And when you think about it... Takumi beat Keisuke AND Ryousuke with no experience in battles, even though they were well trained and treated Touge like a professional sport (Much like Project D, right?) So if his instincts are anything like Takumi's when he first started, he won't lose. His mom is prolly gonna give him gas money and the car for the weekend, too. lmao.

Takumi is deciding on if he should use the last RPM's of his engine to overtake shinji. Although doing this will put a lot of strain on his car and at best will give him a 0.3-0.4 second lead over shinji. Next chapter 712- Life and death. PANIC!

I think the foreshadowing lays within Bunta's monologues again. Ryosouke has taught and trained Takumi to be a flawless driver, such that his tires are perfectly maintained. He might be a street racer, but he's perfected the art, so to speak - which means he'll rely on his car and his abilities. When's the last time we actually saw Takumi innovate? He used the guardrail during the Gumtape Deathmatch, he drifted over the open drainage ditch in the battle with the cappucino, he turned his lights off to fool the professional in the Spoon EK9, he even copied the SW20's corner entry technique for the hairpins. During most of his time with Project D, however, he's focused on improving what he knows. So when the grip prodigy (and that does appear to be what Shinji is) pulls something out of his hat in desperation, will the highly trained Takumi still have it in him to improvise a new technique? Or will he be so focussed on his tire maintenance and speed limit that he'll be unable to counter?

But we don't even know if they will make an OVA yet. It's just speculated for now. Speaking of takumi vs shinji though, I found some more information from arcade stage 7 that might hint towards the ending of this race.

If you look at 4:10 right after takumi takes the hairpin he sounds pretty frustrated while saying something about the straightaway. Then starting on the turn we left off on chapter 711, takumi rockets up to the opponent which is probably him using the last of his RPMs to catch up. After that you basically have to block him until the finish or he will pass you. This still doesn't explain how shinji would react to this though, and at the end of the day it's all just speculation.
