So i have a question, there is an Aw11 bout 15 minute from my house thats for sale for 800 bucks. the body and everything is solid... but the motor pretty much shot. I know that i can get one on sites like ebay for a grand to 1500. But i was wondering if this sounds like a good idea or price.

The best answer to that is whether you value the car at that price or not. Everyone is different, i'd be willing to dump thousands into an Impreza while others may disagree.

Well i always go by the motto that its only worth what someone is willing ot pay. But what i mean to say is would anyone know what its worth compared to other aw11's. Just wondering where it falls in that cars price range.

If you can fix it yourself and have the money to do so then maybe but otherwise it doesn't sound like a good idea just my two cents.

Prices vary state to state but in Texas you can find a decent AW11 for about 3000$. Unless you could get a really good price on installing the engine then I don't think it's worth it.

In any case take a beat up body and an intact engine instead of good body and a shot up engine

Decent condition AW11 shells go for about a grand.
Sourcing a 16v 4AG or a rebuilt one is roughly 1000-2000.
I don't know if you've ever worked on any MR-2 but if you don't have a lift, you'll have a fun time raising the rear end as high as possible to get the motor out.
Heres my friends sw20 lol

IF you know what you're doing and your capable of swapping the motor to would be alright for a 3k investment to get the car running but you would probably end up paying at least another 1500 if you were to leave it at a shop for them to do.
