| The most popular track and class is B500 on the New Downhill. Almost everyone here uses their best time there as a measure of their skill. It's pretty much the benchmark of touge. Most newbies strive to break the 5:00 mark on their first attempts at touge. The "average" time for most racers is 4:40-4:45. Anything below is considered to be very fast. But times are completely relative to the car you're driving because some cars simply have higher potential than others (for example, it's far more impressive to clock a 4:38 in an AE86 or FC3S than in an MR-S or MX-5). If you want a better idea of what times people around here are capable of I would suggest either stalking their driver profiles (lol) or checking out the "Post your best time" thread. Keep in mind that EVERYONE here drives cars WITHOUT Forza aero. It is considered very cheap to use Forza aero since it gives cars a very unfair advantage over "street cars" (plus it looks ugly as f*ck). *As for what time I am running and what is my goal time: My best time is a 4:34.212 and I'm aiming for a 4:33.9 or below.* | |

Novice = 4:50-5:00 Amateur = 4:40-4:45 Pro = 4:30-4:35

| Thanks for clearing that up. Ill b running a s13 most always. Im notinto LB cars at all and i never mess with aeros. Unless i can remove the stock ones. An addition i love about forza 4. Also i was wondering if anyone knew what the fastest s13 is on the mountain.I believe someone ran a 447 that posts on these forums. Do u think the car has the capability of breaking 440? | |

| Well id like to thank everyone who stomped me out in those last few races. I had more fun there than i have online in a while. Im bouncing right around 5 flat. I changed my diff from 75/75 to 50/50 and my final drive to 3.90. Hopefully the car will hold a lil better and b less tail happy. I feel after that its gona b more about driver skill.. | |

| I've done accel/decel combos from 30/15 to 27/13 to 28/28 to what I use now which is 6/28. Works great actually | |

| Im gona try a few diff setting and see wat works for me. The 75 split wasnt doing it. I was able to achieve a 4:58.752 with it and stock gears but my goal right now is 4:55.646 which is top 1000 and it will b the only nissan besides the 69 fairlady Z in the top 1000 b class. Seems like a good starting point. | |

| I have only been running touge for about a month now, and I have maybe clocked in excess of 100 full runs by this stage. I can now hit high 40's on quite a good run, which is nowhere near good compared most people here, but what I have found is that in order to know how to tune your car, you need to run it. ALOT. The way that I decreased my time from low 2:**:** was to run with no adjustments to tuning until I had run the course heaps. You must visualize the track when you are running it thinking one corner ahead of you, you need to know where banked corners are and use it to your advantage, and something I have recently been concentrating on is turning into a corner long before the corner is coming, and this anticipation of distance to the next corner has only come with course knowledge. I'm far from a pro, but once you can run a course without thinking about it then tuning starts to become important. I started tuning once I hit 52'ish. Once you think you have the course sussed (Project D style), then you can tune according to the needs of the course. I got given some handy advice the other day, 'a well tuned car can run fast on pretty much any course'. Plus if you can drive a stock car with a good time, you'll be able to drive a tuned one even faster. But hey that's just my opinion, No haters. :p | |

| I totally like your thoughts on it that. The driver must be in tune with the course as much as the car is. | |

| I just realized that theres not many nissans on th lb cause if someone ran a faster time than me then changed car and ran a better time the other time for the nissan is gone. I feel foolish haha. | |

It's a bad feeling, but you'll get used to it! For example, i'm considered the fastest FC because of my leaderboard time, but the fastest FC is actually my brother Betadood, beating my time by about half a second. There's always someone better than you.
