I'm a pretty big fan of Formula 1 myself and I was just wondering if we could have a general F1 discussion thread going on For instance, what do you guys think of the 2014 regulations? (1.6L V6 Turbo engines)
Also, favorite era of F1?
pic related, it's mine

I prefer the older F1s, it seems like all the new ones are all corporate controlled rather than actually speed freeks.

Yeah I get what you mean that's why I respect the early 80's turbocharged era when cars had about 1400hp in qualifying and 1000hp during the race
As a matter of fact, if F1 didn't have so many rules that restricted things like the engine, tire sizes, wing sizes, and height requirements, F1 cars today would blast through straights at over 300mph and take corners with forces over 8G which would kill the driver.
F1 reached its peak in the mid 2000s with Schumacher in the V10 era (most of those cars still hold lap records to this day)

Ayrton Senna and Michael Schmacher in his prime. That is all.

Yeah dude, even back in the Formula 5000 days, sure they were a lot slower but at least it wasn't all about companies and budget, to be honest all Professional driving now has gone to crap nothing beats grassroots.

^^ this.
I actually prefer the mid 2000's only because of the insanity of the cars. Racing wise, 80's have it hands down. There were about 7 legends who could win every week and bunch of lower their guys who were still fantastic. I'm sure Vettel and Massa wouldn't be in F1 if they still drove the same cars as they did back in the day. So much throttle control.....

The only other person i can think of that's been so influential would be Bruce Mclaren.

of course it is but to fully understand senna's driving you gotta see my fav driver at work on a smaller scale
look at the way he twitchs the kart as if hes glading that sense of driving is what made him very good in the wet his countersteer is fast direct and very sharp.. i race karts and hell ive been trying to find sennas line for years now
now i show you my skills on a track around me the karts arent as fast as the ones in the senna vid but just makes it more harder to keep on the race line i like that driver skill rather than using power
