Everyone has their own way of driving but also their own way of playing.
I'll start off with my own settings:

BRAKING: ABS OFF
STEERING: SIMULATION
STABILITY CONTROL: OFF
TRACTION CONTROL: OFF
SHIFTING: MANUAL W/ CLUTCH
SUGGESTED LINE: BRAKING ONLY
VIEWPOINT: COCKPIT
CONTROLLER: FANATEC CSR WHEEL

Same here. glad i got that outta my chest . except for ABS, cant use no abs and yes I've tried. same goes for sim steer.
xbox controller kinda broke so it steers to the left by it self occasionally. maybe that's y im hitting corners

i used simulation steering before in every car type, but nowdays only with fwd cars since its very unpredictable with rwd cars, drifting with it is impossible to me.
Cockpit view is something i practise often coz its just so cool Smile

I can't believe Hybrid, Beta, and I are the only drivers that use cockpit so far! I always assumed everyone used cockpit, it's the only thing that feels natural to me.

No worries but you do have a point there about using cockpit view over the others. However, I don't criticize others for NOT using cockpit view for the same reason I don't like people criticizing ME for using the braking line. Same goes for all aids really, none of them really make you faster, they're just there to enhance and mold your driving experience and skills respectively. I think it's good that people are posting in this thread honestly, it means they have an open mind. Smile

I sometimes find it obnoxious when people ban aids in Public lobbies, as if having ABS ON will help them win Rolling Eyes

I don't mind people restricting lobbies as long they don't mess with Preferences.

Preferences would be steering and views, since neither make you faster but just a matter of what your comfortable with.

But I definitely think the other aids, like ABS, TCS, Stability Control and Transmission do effect how fast you can drive.

Turning off ABS, you can push the brakes harder and manually get them close to the lockup point, Better braking might give drop your time down .01 seconds which isn't much, but over all the corners of the downhill, you start building up time.

Actually that applies to TCS, stability and Transmission, All slow down the car a little bit, over the course, it can build up.

Normal steer just removes the need for controller users to angle their toggle sticks in the direction of the tires, just straight left or straight right works. It's not faster but it's considerably easier. Then again, that only applies to controllers which I don't use Neutral

Stability: Off
Traction: Off
Shifting: Manual with Clutch
Suggested Line: Breaking, count arrows for pinpoint breaking and eyes stay on track
Viewpoint: 3rd person, easier to keep lines and see tuning effects
Controller: Razor 2010 MLG banned controller, Basic controllers modded for racing efficiency

The only thing I use for an assist is ABS. Everything else is off. Very Happy
