I used to watch Naruto, Sonic X, Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece and Jojo's Bizarre adventures as a kid, but then just kinda forgot about them. I really wanna watch Black Butler because my ex raves and rants about it.

Yeah he's kind of a jerk sometimes, but i'm pretty pissed that he never got a moment to shine. I felt really bad for him when he bought an 85 on accident with all his hard earned money and everyone laughed at him. I feel like he really should have at least shown some progress with racing.

Yeah he ended being a joke up until the very end. I'm not sure why Shigeno went through all the trouble of giving him a love interest and character development early on just to play it up for comic relief later, and a car of his own just so he can play that up for comic relief later too.

@strawberry, YES, I always thought the concept and body movements with the 3d maneuver gear was bad ass.
Itsuki was more of a filler for forth stage

Yeah, just comedy relief. The show ended up shifting towards Takumi?

How was it ever shifted away from Takumi? The only shift was in Forth stage

It was always "shifted" towards Takumi, right? He's the star of the show. In stages 1-3, while still be focused primarily on Takumi, other characters like Itsuki and Iketani got screen time and development.
That's what bothers me most about fourth and fifth stage. Fourth stage shifted Initial D's direction from characters to races. While fourth stage was still great to watch because the races were really interesting, the characters slowly stopped developing or showing much emotion. By the time fifth stage got here, Takumi and Keisuke are pretty lifeless compared to their first stage counterparts.

So it looks like-not to bug anyone here-that the development of the characters in Initual D turned out like Activision's money-grabbing in call of duty with frequent games/shows and less developmemt time both in the show and in the actual creation.

That's the opinion I hold at least. Slight dip in quality in fourth stage, huge dropoff for fifth. The anime adaptation actually made fifth stage way more tolerable to me, the manga was pretty bad.

Stages 1-3 are great, 4 is good, 5 is for fans.
