Normal steering brings the wheel back to the neutral position naturally while with sim you have to control it.
You get more response in the steering yet more prone to mistakes.
If you want to really notice the difference, take a drift car and try to link and transition corners together in extreme angles with normal and sim steering.
There you'll notice how much more prone you are to spinning out with sim steering.
To answer your question no, it will not make you faster.
It may make things easier or harder for you but you can take lines exactly the same regardless of your steering preferences.
