| Hi guys.
When tuning for touge, I've noticed the front tires heat up more then the rear. The cause of that is obvious, but all the guides I've read state that there should be a 20/25 degree difference between front and rear temps at most.
All of my cars, even the slippery as heck Hako, get very close to that "limit" unless they are tuned to oversteer like crazy. Which is slow.
What gives? Is it just something that comes with tuning for the downhill and isn't that big a deal? Or should I be trying to tune that out?
This has been bugging me for a while, so I figured I'd ask the far more knowledgable chaps here.
For the record, my circuit cars don't have this problem, so I'm leaning towards it just being that the touge is much harder on front tires and it's something that happens no matter what.

| Everyone has their different driving styles. Everyone I know heats their front tires a lot more than their rears but when I drive I heat up both my front and rear tires equally all the way to 35 psi.
edit: I believe this has been discussed before in General Chat?

| Beta and I use balanced pressures, that is, using the same pressure on the front and rear tires.
Tons of different combinations are viable though. I use pressures in the range of 29 - 31.

| Wow, I always try to balance my tires so that at the higher temps they go up to about 32 - 32.5PSI front and rear (generally about 27.5 front 28.5 rear) but i'm just a nooby so dont take my advice lol. Maybe some one can tell me the flaw with my tactic? | |

| I went from doing 34s to doing 32s the moment I upped my pressure from 28.5 to 31.0 psi, that way I reach optimum grip @ 35.0 psi about halfway through. | |

| Triump, I was the same until this thread. 29/29.5 front and rear on all my FR cars.
Tried upping the pressures to 30 front 30.5 rear on the GTR and now it's consistent 36's. The fronts still heat up more but it's not as bad.
Kraze, you're definitely right. It's driving style, and possibly due to not using all of the available grip on the rear.
Strawberry, that's interesting. Are your pressures therefore unbalanced when driving? Again, you guys may heat them up equally due to superior throttle control/ability to work the rear tires more, much the same as Kraze does in his LB replay (the corners you go through with little to no braking o.O).
Here I was messing with all the suspension, rollbar and diff settings trying to make the car handle better and it was not only the simplest thing, but the one that you see first in the tuning menu.
One more thing, which is more important for optimum grip? Achieving the 33/35 psi sweet spot, or the ~210 degree sweet spot?
Thank you so much guys. You're awesome.

| So 35 is now optimal grip, I was told long ago that it was 32-34??? | |

| As was I. All the guides say 33 to 35 psi is optimal, so I tuned to reach that. Never tried going above 34 until today and, at least for the way I've got this tuned, hitting 35psi just before the hairpins yields great results. Feels like it's on rails. | |

| It's what I started using about 2 months ago. I could be wrong since I haven't tested anything above 35 psi. Who knows? Maybe 37 psi is better. You'll just have to see for yourself. | |

| Tuning tire pressures is going to be very dependant on the rest of your suspension setup, but I can already tell a lot of you aren't setting yourselves up properly.
The big thing is we are all running RACE compound tires. Tires that have TONs of grip. You all seem to be uneasy about higher pressures, but R compound tires can run at peak grip up to 40psi + depending on the car/suspension/track. Though undoubtedly some setups work better in the lower 30s.
The difference between front and rear pressures also really changes the feel of all aspects of cornering, I almost always run my front tires 1 to 2 psi higher than my rears. On an FR machince this will usualy result in helping the rears heat up a little quicker, and giving the front more turn in capabilities in comparison to the rear.
Don't be afraid to experiment with higher pressures, and also make good use of the telemetry to fine tune your alignment settings, which are also effecting your tires heat and contact.

This should help get you started, its about that real racing not forza, but there are a lot of good articles on that site, dig around!

| My best results have come from tires pressures ranging from 32-33.5 at 190º-210º I think in forza the peak preformance levels of a tire are reach when the tire in the telemetry readings are dark green. The light/whitish green is too little heat and yellowish/bright greens are a little too high. Try using the telemetry to dail in your tires pressure and heat ratings. | |
