PostSubject: Differential set-up .....    Wed Mar 27, 2013 2:34 pm

Maybe this should just be in general chat or tuning but, I am looking to work on some RWD cars, so far I do have an AE86 in the garage, it works well, very well..... But, its running a drift set up diff ...

Although its a good car to use, It just wants to go tail happy as soon as I hit power....

Whats peoples diff ratios ( for all rwd cars ) And is there any better tips for racing RWD?

I do do this whole ' slow in, fast out' but after my CRX & EK9 addiction, I can go fast everywhere ;D

guess thats a trial and error thing you definately need low accel setting but changing it by 2 points can make a world difference in driving. how low exactly is different from car to car.

what i do i start at about 45 run some different types of corners in it if it starts to slide i lower it by 2 points and go through the same corners again to see whats what.

cant help you on the decel though cause im not quite sure yet what it affects

In general, a RWD diff should have both its Accel and Decel settings below 30% IMO. I have combos ranging from 30/15 to 28/28 to 27/13 to 12/6 etc. but 30% is as high as I go. As for tips, good ol' throttle control practice. Wink

See, this is what i was thinking, a low ratio but still, keeping ratios the same ( 24/24%) ETC, although now hearing others opinions, looks like I shall have my work cut out, I tune most things on B revers, fast and tight bends ETC, can anyone recommend a time I should beat for FWD & RWD ? Must be B class though aha ;D

you should try and get faster no matter if clean or dirty when you reach the time you want constantly you can work on keeping it clean but if you ran fast before even if it was dirty you know a line to be that fast and just tweak out the dirty spots in it till you run it clean

So a higher decel supresses oversteer?

In my experience, a lower accel reduces power oversteer while a higher decel reduces lift-off oversteer. However, if the accel is too low the car will have trouble turning in sharp corners while too high of a decel can cause the car to be less stable in high speed sections.

more decel will keep your rear end stable while you work on and off the throttle, but too much and the car wont turn well while your off the accelerator.
