| Well Kraze gave a pretty comprehensive list, but i'd like to write up something of a "guide" to the popular cars.
I don't like to "frown upon" certain cars. There will almost always be a car that's better and faster than yours, but the point is to pick one you really like and push it as far as it can go. For some of us, that means struggling to get 4:39 in a 240sx, for others that means hot lapping for hours trying to get a 4:33 in a miata. Some cars are clearly capable of more than others, but it's futile to try and classify some as cheap and others as fair unless you've got enough data to prove it. In my experience, the only car with enough overwhelming data is the Lotus Elise, and that's why it's the only car I can really hate. There is no way to classify every other car on the touge. Here's an example;
We could judge every car by their fastest time on the leaderboard and rank them that way, but there's a problem with this method. Cars like the MX-5 superlight, Mazda 2 and the Sprinter Trueno are then considered better than others because of one outlier. For instance, Konasumi's time in the Superlight and Betadood's time in the AE86. The 86 is generally considered a decent car with dated handling and abnormal acceleration capable of 4:41-4:37 in the hands of experienced drivers, but because one person is capable of a 4:34 than according to the rule it must be an unfair car.
I could go on forever, but the point is, ultimately the community wouldn't be what it is without the slow ones, the fast ones, the competitive types and the casual drivers. Respect people's car choices and keep it fun for everyone. Who knows which car will be discovered to be fast next?
Anyway, a list of popular, fast, and possibly frowned upon cars:
B class NDH:
Fairlady Z 432: Extremely popular car in both forza and real life, so it's no wonder it ended up a popular touge car. On the mountain it's abnormally low "speed" stat allows the classic Z around 210hp in a 2,000lb body, giving it acceleration matched only by the AE86. combined with decently wide tires and orthodox but strange handling, this car is a good choice to anyone familiar with the FR layout. In the hands of capable drivers it has the potential to top leaderboards.
Escort RS Cosworth: A formerly popular car that's mostly fallen out of favor to light weight, rear wheel drives. The Ford Escort is one of the rare cars with low enough PI to be a competitive AWD in B class, traits normally reserved for A class cars. Naturally, it's AWD drivetrain makes it a breeze to handle, and accelerating out of a corner is as easy as mashing the gas. It seems to have less potential than other leaderboard topping cars, but it's unique AWD characteristic made it a popular and fast car.
Toyota MR-S: Light weight, rear wheel, mid-engine, this car was born to attack technical courses like Fujimi Kaido. The MR-S is capable of razor sharp braking and cornering, the car seems to preform better the faster you go, and is truly a testament to the potential of mid- engine cars.
Miata family: The world's top selling sports car is beloved in real life for it's ease of use and driveability, and i'd say they translated that well to Forza. Armed with it's ultra light weight and obscenely thick tires, all three generations of the car are easy to pick up, fast, and most importantly, fun. It's hard to say which of the family is best since they've only recently become popular, though the fastest time in the Superlight driven by Konasumi is currently the top street car on the mountain, it trumps 99% of A class cars!
037 Stradale: Lancia's mid engine rally champion is capable of running with the best of it's JDM rivals. It's looked down upon because of it's non-asian heritage by purists, and due to similarities to the MR-S in both build and speed, the two are often considered rivals.
A class:
Lancer Evo VI/Subaru 22b: With a lighter weight than most AWD cars, these two preform and handle nearly identically; without the annoying tendency to understeer like most of their AWD cousins. At the high speeds of A-class driving, the merits of AWD start to become apparent, as the need for surgical precise throttle control needed in a rear wheel drive is done away with nearly entirely. This advantage is most apparent on the uphill, though they're equally good choices on the downhill.
NSX-R/NSX-R GT: It's no surprise that the NSX became a touge monster in it's A class element considering it's extensive real world pedigree. It's most known for it's times on the downhill, though it's also a fearsome competitor on the uphill. The "NSX-R GT" Unicorn car is considered better than it's normal counterpart, though not many have tested it considering how hard it is to obtain.
AWD Swapped Cars: This covers a lot of different cars, most notably our old friend the Fairlady Z. With something as simple as a drivetrain swap, some light weight rear wheel cars can make their way into the A class leaderboards with ease combining their natural speed and superior AWD stability.
To reiterate, this list is my personal opinions and nothing more. No one can judge which cars are fair and unfair, and anyone that happens to drive any of the cars I mentioned shouldn't feel that i'm looking down on them.

| So, I will guess the NSX-R GT is sorta a no-go, what about just an NSX? | |

You don't want to know. You mean like bodykits? Cause I like them sometimes :/ Just avoid aero, and kits .... Added weight is just more off a pain, the only aero I have ever liked on any car has to be the FRS rear wing....

| I was running a '70 camaro last night. That thing is fun but damn by the end of the downhill run my front tires were almost in the red! I think it'd be competitive on a circuit but its too heavy to stop on the downhill and toasts its tires too quickly. Still fun as hell with the low end torque tho! | |

| Just found a gem in good ole 'mericuh. If you can get over its ugly looks the 78 king cobra looks like it could be a worthy touge car. I tuned one to have 211hp/379tq(@1600 rpm!!!) 2234lbs 54%dist, 255's up front 305's out back in B Class!! That's with all race susp upgrades, race trans and driveshaft and the lightest wheels possible!
Too bad it looks hideous....

I think that's it? All my favorites. Also, where's the Liana? I have yet to see someone with a Liana. That would be awesome.

| Actually the RS1800 is considered an LB car by a couple of people but since I don't have the DLC I cannot state an opinion on it. | |
