Since the complete tuning guide is still a work in progress I figured it'd be best to just ask it here. I've been tuning my gears individually to top out at specific speeds (ie. 1st = 45mph, 2nd = 64mph, etc.) but I ALWAYS leave the final drive alone. It seems to me that the final drive is only a short-cut to shortening or elongating the gear ratios (which makes sense since sport transmissions can only adjust the final drive and nothing else, the race transmissions cost you more PI but since they can give you the gear ratio of your choice they become worth it). What I want to know is what is the difference in using a different final drive (other than 3.30) on a gear ratio that still keeps the gears topping out at the same speeds as before?

My guess is... none?

I tune my car's final drive for maximum acceleration first, then I test drive the car and adjust any gear ratios that don't match the course.
