Figure it would be better to start a thread dedicated to this, rather than myself and Obelisk spamming the hell out of the rio thread, lol.

Appropriate for all versions of Forza Motorsport.

You want the suspension itself rather soft at rio, as soft as you can without the car plowing into understeer at every opportunity. Not sure about the dampers, yet, as I will have to test in game myself.

The car was pretty solid at its default spring rates (280/290 i think) and they're at 690.

Since you have the tune saved, might be best to just reset the tuning options and start again. This is what I sometimes do while tuning. You also only want to change one thing at once, never change the suspension, then the roll bars or the diff. Change one thing, test it, change something else, test it.

I gotcha. I've got some stuff to do and then I have work, so I'll probably start experimenting with the settings after 9:30 EST. At the same time, I've gotta get my feet back on the ground in Gran Turismo.

Meh, honestly, you should leave GT be until GT sport is released on the PS4. Should be released in November, Sony and PD have till after Christmas to impress me on that one. If they do, then I will pick up a PS4 for it. As an added bonus, would be nice if they include support for the G27.

Speaking of the tune, I ditched the race clutch, it is a waste of PI points. I also changed the engine upgrade parts, so the race air filter and street ignition got ditched in favour of a sports valves and sports pistons. BHP is still only 223 though.

I use the race clutch because I'm running manual without clutch on my car.

Are you curious about my tuning method?

Cause I am, after all, that Lancia was quite good. Baring its tendency to bounce around.

By the way, start using manual with clutch. You can set the clutch to 'A' in the controller options, and the left shoulder button (not the trigger) becomes the handbrake. This way you can press the clutch and gear up/down at the same time.

Noted. As for the tuning method:

I start with the springs, and I use the method in this thread by WesmanE.

Rebound and bump:
1. You look at the default rebound, and then subtract the lower value from the higher value.
2. Multiply that number by the front weight distribution and then add the lower value to it.
3. Rinse and repeat for the rear distribution.
4. Bump values are exactly half of the rebound value if possible. (037 is 5.5 and 5.5, so 2.3 and 2.3)

Anti-Roll Bars:
39 x (front weight distribution) + 1, round to nearest .1.
39 x (rear weight distribution) + 1, round to nearest .1.

I usually default to 30/15 or 35/20 on the differential. Camber I run at -0.5/-0.5 and caster at 5.5.

I see. I just go by feel personally, but I do keep everything balanced where possible. I used to use the formulas back in FM1 and 2 though, but think I just got used to the feel of the cars. Plus I practice with the cars stock, as you know from when I was helping you before.

Anyway, I dropped to sports tires and sport weight reduction. This way I could add more power into the car.

The idea behind it is to set up spring rates that can handle the car's weight ( no duh). Under cornering, around 70-75% of the car's weight is on the outside tires. Which leaves 25% on the inside tires. To find the balance between that 75/25 split, you use the car's weight. Wesman used the S14 with a few upgrades to knock the weight down to 2,800 lbs.

You start with the 75% weight:

2,800 × .75 = 2100.

So there's 2,100 pounds on the outside suspension, but there are two springs bearing the load so the weight needs to be distributed:

2100 / 2 = 1050.

Then you need to adjust to take into account the 25% on the inside tires, so you calculate it like this:

1050 - (.25 × 1050) = final spring rate.

To simplify:

1050 - 262.5 = 787.5

787.5 is your final spring rate, BUT you have to now deal with weight distribution.

When you finish upgrading the car to tune, look at the stock spring settings - this is how the weight is distributed. Let's say the S14 had 53-47 (idk the real value lol) and had spring rates of 350/300. Take the difference of the spring rates (50 in this case) and subtract it from 787.5 to get the softer spring rate for the end of the car with less weight on it. In this example, the springs would look like 787.5/737.5.
