My Thrustmaster Experiance Empty
PostSubject: My Thrustmaster Experiance   My Thrustmaster Experiance Icon_minitimeSat Jul 12, 2014 9:13 am

Well, all good things must come to an end it seems. My TX which has worked flawlessly for 6 months bit the dust on the 1st of July, I was in talks with Thrustmaster, who said they would replace the wheel for me on the 8th of July. Roll onto the 10th of July, and Thrustmaster decided they would not be replacing the wheel after all, and where 100% not interested in honouring the product warrenty; stating to "go to amazon" for a replacement. Considuring I have had the wheel for 6 months, I was surprised when Amazon ordered a replacement within minutes of contacting them on the phone. The new wheel arrived today, I set it up; alas it was not ment to be. The new wheel is DOA, 100% not working out of the box. Unfortunately Amazon do not have anymore in stock, so both wheels are been returned now; and I will be getting a full refund. I cannot fault Amazon, they have been amazing, and very easy to deal with. Thrustmaster on the other hand, I will not trust them as far as I can throw them. They are breaking uk and EU law by not honouring a warranty replacement or repair, and now I am left without a wheel. Past experience with Madcatz wheels, means I will not be buying their offering. I may relent and repurchase a TX, but it will probably be much later in the year; if not next year. But I am debating buying a Fanatec at this point, and may just remain without a wheel on the Xbox one altogether; I just havnt decided yet.

My advice to anyone who wants a wheel for the X1, be very very careful when dealing with Thrustmaster. The wheel works great, when it actually works. When it doesnt though, in the uk at the very least, they just don't want to know!

That sucks so bad WOW.

My CSR has been working great for a year now but I have abused it a bit.  The paddle shifters have a bit of rust from my sweaty fingers, the force feedback doesn't work too well with aggressive driving when using low degrees of rotation (sometimes the wheel gets stuck) and my toggle stick is loose.  But instead of taking the wheel back like I considered doing when the toggle broke 8 months ago I decided to instead just deal with it and fix the problems my way.  The paddles are laminated to prevent further rusting, I adapted to a higher rotation degree and learned to drive smoother to prevent the wheel from getting stuck again, and I use a piece of tape to hold the toggle in place.  It's not pretty but my DIY fixes have kept my wheel from getting damaged for nearly a year now and it still works great.

I'm curious as to what you will do now considering Fanatec wheels don't work for XB1. Get a new wheel or... stop playing?  I know it's not the same to race with a controller after getting used to these wheels.  Sad

Honestly? I just dont know, as I said above; I may buy another TX further down the line. The main issue I have, is how Thrustmaster support have handled the situation. After been told by them that they was sending a replacement wheel base, and then 2 days later say they are not and to go to Amazon; it has left a very bad taste! UK trading standards are involved in the matter with Thrustmaster, as I am not letting them get away with breaking the EU and UK consumer laws. I am just glad I never purchased the T3PA pedal set, otherwise I would have no choice but to buy another TX. Would be nothing worse, than having a £100 set of pedals that I can't use at all. When the wheel works though, it is amazing. A lot of people say it feels better than the Fanatec wheels, and some even say it is better than the T500RS from Thrustmaster. Once I get the refund, I will decide what I am going to do.
