Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of this stuff. I finally have the resources and time to start racing and i was just wondering what advice or first hand knowledge i could get. Any information will do as i have been reading up on it online as much as i can and plan on getting started for mid 2014, especially now that a new road course is almost done being built in my state (CT).

If anyone that knows anything could answer this though, do they still run older cars competitively and if so whats the class that would fall under (SCCA)? I have literally 4 cars laying around, and any one of them could be the one i decide to turn into my track car, i just cant seem to find the answers im looking clearly enough in the rule books.

All I know of the SCCA is the Ultimate Track Car Challenge (UTCC) autocross event that they sponsor every year in summer. In that event there is no budget limit so anything from $2000 garage project cars to 700hp GTRs compete.

Yeah, i know of HPDE's and stuff which i plan on doing before i go to the new driving school thats also being built there. Ill go there to get my wheel-to-wheel license. I much rather race door to door with someone than time attack or go around some cones. Not that its not fun, it is. But in a different way.

I was just wondering if there was any class that allowed a 77 (or 79 for that matter) Firebird T/A to race door to door. There was a class til 2012 that was a production class where anything could be run that was on a list (which is was on) but now with some restructuring i dont know where that ended up.
