I've finally managed to transition into full FR cars now and I think I'm ready for the 86. Which one should I use, the GT-86 or the Trueno 86?

The trueno is one of the hardest cars to drive on the mountain and it will take quiet a long time to get used to how it handles but the GT-86 is alot easier so I would go with that one if I were you

Is there a general car list I should drive to prepare for the 86? Thanks for the suggestion.

Why would you drive the 86 now if you never wanted to before?

Because before I was wimpy about driving FRs without TCS or STM but once I started using the 037, it changed from there. I prefer FRs now because they're more responsive on the tricky turns.

Then why not any other FR? There are plenty of other options besides the 86 that would make you much faster.

I have one or two sitting around like the '78 KC Mustang and oddly the 131 Abarth. Just wanted to challenge myself with a hard car to push my times in an easier car.

I never did, bukkaz used to use a C class one instead of B class one though, as the power is really difficult to handle when you first start touge racing. You might want to try that first. As for what car you should choose though...

AE86:
+Nearly unrivaled acceleration
+Light nimble body, weight transfers are very smooth
-Slightly smaller tires than most cars
-Old chassi, so the car has some awkward handling

GT86:
+Massive tires compared to most B class cars
+Nice new car handling, just point and go
-Heavy so weight transfers are a bit rough
-Terrible acceleration

It's funny how the car built to be a successor to the AE86 became the polar opposite of what it is in forza Laughing. If you want to learn how to drive cars that handle well in corners (MX5 gen 2 MR-S) then go with the GT86. If you want to learn the delicate throttle control that comes with driving high powered cars (MX5 gen 1 240Z) then go with the AE86. Hope that helps!

Wait if you didn't have the DLC then why was it even an option?

i would do the 86. i think driving it makes you a better all around driver. at least with fr machines. it's hard to handle but if you take the time and dedication to control it any FR car you drive after it should be a cake walk. now, im not saying you'll run 31's in [i]any and every[i] car you drive from that point on, i just think the skills acquired from driving the trueno will greatly help in understanding car control in easier to handle vehicles.

Well the 037 is so easy to drive that it's just hop in and go.  Btw, bad tag corrected.
